Out of an abundance of caution due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the 35th Annual ISSM Conference will be held entirely virtually. Old Dominion University has a robust, well developed distance education infrastructure, which will allow us to hold sessions synchronously, asynchronously, or as a mixture of both formats.
The conference will be delivered through two technologies: Zoom and Discord.
The conference organizing committee has scheduled a number of test sessions before the conference begins. Conference organizers will be available in Zoom and Discord during these sessions so that you can insure that your technology is working.
Setting up Zoom
Zoom is a popular video-conferencing application. Although you can run Zoom through your browser, we recommend that you download the Zoom client and run it from your computer for the best results.
We’ll use Zoom to facilitate the conference’s keynote addresses, its special events, the ISSM Business meeting, and the individual sessions. The links to each of the conference’s Zoom sessions are posted in the conference program:
Clicking on one of these links will take you to the session’s Zoom launch page:
Clicking “Open Zoom Meetings” or “Launch Meeting” from this page will launch the Zoom Client. The client will open a video preview window and ask you whether or not you would like to join with video:
The client will then prompt you to choose an audio option:
At this point, you should be connected to the ISSM conference session!
